The Foundation brings together experts from multiple disciplines. In order to carry out research projects and training, the Foundation attracts leading Georgian analysts for individual and joint studies.
Foreign scholars regularly visit us to participate in our events. Visiting lecturers deliver training for Georgian and international participants.
The Foundation also serves as a forum for foreign scholars conducting field research in Georgia, as well as elsewhere in the region. We offer both field expertise and IT facilities to help scholars.
Our activities include research, training, conferences, seminars, and publishing.
Our research and training activities have a regional agenda. We conduct joint projects in partnership with research and educational institutions both in the region and beyond.
Policy-relevant research provides senior-level officials with policy recommendations. Most research findings are available to institutions and the public.
Evaluation and assessment studies help institutions measure and improve their performance. This includes evaluations of specific programs and projects, as well as more general assessment studies of political risk and social and economic development. Evaluation and assessment studies are for governments, the private sector, and NGOs in the region.
Training enhances human capital in the region in international economics, politics, and security issues. The Foundation broadens opportunities for promising young specialists to participate in policy planning and decisionmaking. Trainees, from government, the press, and NGOs, are offered evening classes in economics, policy analysis, and international security. Our teaching staff includes international and local specialists, and instruction is provided free of charge.
Conferences and seminars, often in collaboration with other research institutions and government organizations, encourage an exchange of views among policymakers, scholars, and NGOs on key policy issues and develop recommendations for action.
Public outreach is an important tool for increasing our influence in the policy dialogue. GFSIS regularly conducts interviews with the media, and hosts discussions, public hearings, and roundtables.
The Foundation publishes newsletters, working papers, project reports, and conference proceedings, in electronic and printed formats.
