Mr. Pat O'Brien

Pat O'Brien is a master's candidate for a joint degree in international relations at Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies and the Diplomatic Academy of Vienna.Â He has served in the US Navy and Peace Corps Albania. During Pat's stay there, Albania gained two new neighbors Montenegro and Kosovo, although one was much more controversial than the other. This sparked an interest in the recognition/nonrecognition of states. While at GFSIS, Pat studies the reactions of the de facto governments of Abkhazia, South Ossetia, Nagorno-Karabakh and Transdniestria to Kosovo's independence.
