GFSIS in Akhalkalaki Hosted Public Lecture

On July 20 - 21, 2009 the regional resource center of the Georgian Foundation for Strategic and International Studies (GFSIS) in Akhalkalaki hosted the public lecture of the representative of the State Minister on Reintegration Issues in Samtskhe-Javakheti, Mr. Armen Amirkhanian. The audience included representatives of civil society and local government of Samtskhe-Javakehti.

Presentation on the U.S. Elections

On Wednesday, October 8 2008 Dr. Daniel Warner, Vice-Director of Graduate Institute of International Studies, Geneva, gave a presentation on the U.S. Elections to the alumni of the program, Capacity Building in International Relations. Dr. Warner covered the social base of the presidential candidates, their public speeches as well as TV debates. The presentation was followed by Q&A period.

Overview of the Recent Developments in Georgia and the wider Region

Mr. Stepan Grigoryan visits GFSIS. Mr. Grigoryan spoke to a group of Georgian civil society and media representatives on the recent developments in Georgia and its possible implications on the South Caucasus. He also shared his view on reaction of Armenian civil society on the Russian-Georgian military conflict.

Public Lecture on International and Security Studies

The Foundation was pleased to welcome Colonel James R. Howcroft, of the George C. Marshall European Centre for Security Studies in Garmisch-Partenkirchen (Germany), on 19 December 2007. Howcroft, the United States Marine Corps Chair at the Centre's College of International and Security Studies, was joined by his colleagues Lieutenant Colonel Tod Brown, Lieutenant Colonel Chris Cavoli and Captain Shawn Kyle who gave a presentation on the United States' military presence in Iraq and Afghanistan and then opened the floor to questions from the audience.
